Nicolas Panayotou: Rhodon

2015年6月13日 - 2017年7月5日
The art of Nicolas Panayotou stands at the meeting point between kinetic art, geometric abstraction and big names such as Vasarely, Agam, Soto or, more recently, Ugo Rondinone. The will of the artist is to go beyond the limits reached by his predecessors and to continue the research in order to achieve new visual effects and reach new fields of perception.

However Nicolas Panayotou is not confined to only one axis of research, and also explores all the plastic possibilities related to color. He works on the effects, the vibrations produced by it and its cognitive perception.

This new exhibition Rhodon, rose in ancient Greek, focuses on the color pink. This color is in all the paintings of the exhibition directly, and by playing with various tones, mixtures or overlays, the artist explores and immerses the viewer in the meanders of the chromatic scale. More than just plastic research, pink is for the artist a hymn to life, a color which resists to the violence of the orange and to the passion of the red.

But Rhodon is also and above all the rose, a flower that is found in the dominant form of the artist’s new series: the sphere, but also in the overlapping plans of these round or square shapes, like the petals of the rose, which gives depth and another perception of the work according to the place where we are. The sharpness and precision of the lines are also not without reference to the sharp spine of this flower. The artist invites us into another dimension where plans, colors, inspirations intertwine forming a real cosmic landscape.

Each work of Nicolas Panayotou is an adventure of achievement for the artist and discovery for the viewer who has to make his own idea while he is lulled into colored circles.
