"I can’t take my eyes off you because you are my one and only" - Vivian Ho
A2Z Art Gallery is very pleased to present "I can't take my eyes off you", Vivian Ho's second solo exhibition in Paris.
Colourful and urban, Vivian Ho's digital works release the love she sings for Hong Kong, her native and nurturing city. Illustration has always been a field of visual experimentation for her, filling her diary page by page. Denoting the importance ofcolour and narrative in a metropolis where the silhouettes of a highly active city life are articulated, the artist counters the monotonous and grey vision of a city imagination by adding a surrealist touch opening the doors to dreams, memory, and curiosity.
From the song written by singer-songwriter Damien Rice, the exhibition 'I can't take my eyes off you' is intended to be a colorful manifesto tinged with sadness and romantic melancholy despite many political issues, societal tumults, environments challenges and sanitary facilities which particularly affected Hong Kong. By describing "the Pearl of the Orient" in a fantastic and whimsical way, the artist wishes to remind us that hope, and love will always prevail despite the absurdity and the ephemeral changes that humans can bring.
