A surreal exploration of contemporary landscapes

A2Z Art Gallery is honored to present the collective exhibition En Apesanteur, featuring the works of four artists: Li Donglu, Louis Le Kim, Han Jihee, and Jiang Wenbin. Through surreal landscapes composed of fragments of images drawn from reality, these contemporary painters invite spectators to follow the thread of their own imagination. They transform the artistic experience into a personal quest, where each canvas becomes a gateway to an inner universe.

The practice of Louis Le Kim and Jiang Wenbin focuses on urban scenes. Louis Le Kim depicts depopulated landscapes, captured during his wanderings in abandoned industrial sites and areas. Jiang Wenbin shapes his "own reality" by painting surreal landscapes composed of fragmented images from real life.

In contrast to the urban style of these two artists, Li Donglu and Han Jihee turn to natural landscapes. Donglu creates a meditative atmosphere by representing natural elements in ruins such as bare trees, dried-up rivers, and desolate forests. Jihee explores the plasticity of natural elements, such as mountains, waterfalls, and the sea, by fluidizing them to assimilate them into her creative process.

En Apesanteur is a journey through worlds intertwined with realism and surrealism, an exploration of the depths of the mind and the landscapes that surround us, reinterpreted by these visionary artists. Each of them offers a unique vision, unraveling conventional boundaries to immerse us in hybrid realms, inviting deep and personal contemplation. This exhibition proposes a total immersion into poetic and introspective visions, encouraging spectators to reassess their perception of the world and their own existence.
